Margo Hartman, Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) Federation Board of Directors, will be joining us to discuss updates from our Federation as well as how SIA is working with Soroptimist International.
Margo has been a member of SI Scotts Bluff County for 28 years. She has held most club offices and served on numerous committees. She has been a Governor for Rocky Mountain Region and just began a term on the SIA Federation Board. She is the proud mom of Andrea, our vice president.
Help Soroptimist of Omaha Metro raise funds for our Live you Dream Program which provides financial assistance to women who are supporting a family and furthering their education.
We are raffling a gift card treasure chest worth over $300 for retailers such as Target, iTunes, Scooters, Kohl’s, and many more!

In our first year as a club we were able to provide financial awards to two wonderful women who are working towards goals that will make this world a better place. One of our recipients went on to win an additional award from the North Central Region!
Please join us as we recognize our 2018 Live Your Dream Award winners and celebrate their achievements!
Refreshments will be provided. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend.
Soroptimist of Omaha Metro is proud to be participating in Omaha Gives!, a 24-
hour charitable challenge organized by the Omaha Community Foundation. The
online giving holiday will take place May 23 from midnight to midnight. Mark
your calendars because we will need your help! We will be joining more than 800
local nonprofits to raise money together and compete for prize money—the more
donors we get to give to us, the more likely we are to win prizes.
Omaha Gives! is a community-wide event to show off Omaha’s spirit of giving,
raise awareness about local nonprofits, and celebrate the collective effort it takes to

Join Soroptimist of Omaha Metro and Soroptimist of Lincoln as we spend an afternoon assisting the Days for Girls Omaha Chapter in assembling period kits for women and girls who don’t have easy access to hygiene products. This event is open to anyone who is interested in attending and learning about our organizations.
If you have a teenager (11 and older) they are welcome to participate! Please bring a snack to share.

Each year, Soroptimist clubs around the world support women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. The Live Your Dream Education & Training Awards program awards over $1.7 million dollars each year.
The latest report states that $2.1 million was disbursed last year to 1,467 women! Click here for the 2017 report.
As a new club, we will be participating for the first time this year! If you are eligible, or you know someone who is, please send them to https://www.soroptimist.org/awards/live-your-dream-awards.html to apply. The application deadline is November 15, 2017.
Our next meeting will be held November 8, 2017 at 6:30 pm. We are trying a new location at Paradise Bakery in Regency Court.
As always, our meetings are open to everyone. If you are curious about Soroptimist and want to learn more, you are more than welcome to attend and ask questions.
We will be wrapping up our supply drive for Days for Girls. Here’s the list of items needed:
- Girl’s Panties (Briefs in sizes 10-16-the more colorful the better)
- Travel-sized bars of soap
- Gallon-sized Ziploc Bags
We will also be discussing plans for future club events and projects. Bring your ideas!
Join us for a fun-filled night as we raise money for our Live Your Dream award program. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. Each year, over $1.7 million is invested throughout the country. All money raised at this event will go to women in the Omaha area.
We have several local Zumba instructors ready to get your weekend started off with a party.
And for a Friday the 13th twist, we’ll have a Dream It Be It costume contest. Come dressed as that rock star or superhero (or anything else) you’ve always wanted to be. Prizes will be awarded.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
